The Community Council is the latest in a council heritage which has served R&M since 1884. It is now an elected body serving the three wards of Radyr South, Radyr North and Morganstown. There are four councillors for each ward. R&MCC is politically neutral and no councillor stands on a political ticket.

R&MCC is a statutory consultee on community planning and we represent R&M on issues that affect the community such as the Local Development Plan. We respond to consultations from Welsh Government and Cardiff Council to give R&MCC’s position and views on new policy which will affect the community.

We finance our activities through the annual precept which is raised through council tax. This pays for the running of the council, grants to local organisations and supporting local facilities like Morganstown Village Hall. It also pays for the maintenance of the Old Church Rooms and management of land in Radyr Woods and Pentwyn Park, all of which we own. It pays for our management of land on behalf of Cardiff Council at Radyr Woods, Windsor Gardens, Granny Park and Dan-y-Bryn Woods where we cut the grass and look after the trees, paths, bins and seats. Radyr Woods is managed on our behalf by the Wardens and we finance their woodland activities.

We pay for the three community Christmas trees and lights and the lights in Station Road. We own the R&M website and work with the web team, financing all the site developments as well as the regular maintenance.  Editorial control of the site, except for the Community Council pages, rests with the Web Team.

Each May we host a reception in the Old Church Rooms to thank representatives of all the local groups for their commitment to the community.

The Finance Committee and the Environment Committee meet on the 1st Thursday of each month (except August and December) and make recommendations to the main Community Council meeting held on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except August and December). All meetings of the Community Council are open to the public and time is set aside for you to raise issues with the members.

Mae’r rhain wedyn yn bwydo’r wybodaeth i brif gyfarfod y Cyngor Cymuned a gynhelir, fel arfer, ar y pedwerydd dydd Iau yn y mis. Mae pob cyfarfod o’r Cyngor Cymuned yn agored i’r cyhoedd, a neilltuir amser i chi i godi materion gyda’r aelodau.

Rydym yn cefnogi gwefan Radur yn llawn – yn ariannol yn ogystal rhoi cefnogaeth i y we. Gobeithiwn y bydd y wybodaeth ar y tudalennau a ganlyn yn rhoi digonedd o wybodaeth ar sut y mae’r Cyngor Cymuned yn rhedeg a’i gyfrifoldebau. Os hoffech wybod mwy, yna cysylltwch Clerc.
