Old Church Rooms (OCR)

Old Church Rooms, Park Rd, Radyr CF15 8DF

The Old Church Rooms, Park Road, is owned and operated by the community of Radyr. The Management Team is made up of members of both the Community Council and the Radyr & Morganstown Association.

The complex, which consists of 2 main halls, kitchen, a conference suite and meeting room, is available for hire. For details of bookings and charges for the 4 rooms – see OCR Bookings 

Changes to OCR Booking System

Ground Floor

Garth Room

The oldest, and largest of the rooms, this magnificent main hall has hosted countless events over the years from live music, concerts and theatre shows. For generations it has been at the very heart of the community.

Use of the rooms Sound System give access to amplification and a Loop system to assist those hard of hearing.

Theatre style the room seats up to 70 comfortably, for sit-down banquetting or cabaret style we recommend restricting your numbers to 60 but with careful planning more can be achieved.  There is access to a fully fitted kitchen.

The Weir room comes bare as shown but with access to chairs and Go-Pak tables to seat up to 30 comfortably.

There is a pull-down projection screen fitted at the top of the room and access to the outside garden space through the fire-door.

The windows of the Weir room are fully curtained to allow the light in, or to block out the passing headlights on a cold winter night

All our rooms are fully central heated from a centrally controlled system with a thermostat in each room to ensure your comfort during your use of the OCR.

Both of our ground-floor rooms are fully accessible to wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility.

Main Kitchen

The Main Kitchen is nestled between the downstairs halls. Accessible from the main entranceway or by a second door directly into the Garth Room. Stainless Steel worksurfaces. Deep double sink for food prep and hygenic two stage washing up with separate dedicated Hand-wash facilities and small glass-wares dishwasher.

The double oven and industrial gas hob has efficient filtered extraction to the outside.

If you require use of the kitchen as part of your hire there is no extra charge but do please mention when booking to ensure it is available.


Please note that our upstairs rooms are currently only available via a staircase. Please consider the accessibility needs of your group when booking these rooms.

Castle Room

The Castle Room in Boardroom Style

The most recent addition to the OCR, the Castle Room is a purpose built venue ideal for hosting a variety of functions from corporate events and specialist presentations, to general meetings and conferences.

Completed in 2016, this modern, airy space not only feels like a professional venue, but boasts all the digital necessities essential for hosting a variety of businesses.

Wi-Fi is provided throughout the building, however the Castle Room also has the benefit of both digital and 35mm projector equipment, 42″ Smart TV, as well as your basic presentation materials. The room also has an Induction Loop fed from an on-table microphone to assist those who are hard of hearing.

First Floor Kitchen

The Castle Room also has access to a small kitchen which is ideal for preparing tea and coffee for your guests. Alternatively, the OCR, in partnership with a number of local businesses, can also provide catering packages to suit your specific requirements. Chain Room

The Chain Room is used by the R&M Community Council during office hours on weekdays but is available for hire at other times.

Comfortably seating up to 16 around a boardroom style table. A great space for smaller meetings.


The exterior of the Old Church Rooms has an enclosed car park with spaces for 14 cars including 2 wider disabled spaces. Further parking is usually available in surrounding streets and the number 63 bus from the centre of Cardiff regularly stops immediately outside the building.  The garden area to the side and rear of the building is mostly laid to lawn and can be accessed from the car park or from either of the Ground Floor rooms.
