Attending for the first time?
If you have never been to Christ Church or St John’s before, or never been to Church at all, be reassured, there will be people ready to welcome you and help you feel at home.
Aim to arrive about 10-15 minutes before the service is scheduled to begin. As you approach the church door, there will be someone either outside, or just inside, to greet you and ensure you are made to feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you enter.
If you wish, they will arrange for you to sit with someone throughout the service who can explain what is happening. If you want to just observe what is going on at first without taking any active part, that is fine.
You are also welcome to contact one of the Church Wardens (see the “Contact us” section) and they can arrange either to meet you themselves or put you in touch with someone to meet you either before or at the service.
The most important thing is that you leave feeling welcomed and comfortable. Of course, we hope you will come back, but that is your own personal decision. No one will put pressure on you, put you on the spot, or make you feel uncomfortable.
- Take a look inside the churches, see Christ Church or St John’s.
- Find out about regular services at Christ Church and services at St John’s but also check the weekly notices for any variation from the standard routine.
If you want to find out more, contact the Rector, Wardens or Sub-Wardens. All of their details can be found on our Contact pages.
