Cardiff council cabinet member Graham Hinchey said the executive will drop its proposal to stop funding seven libraries. It follows huge protests.

The seven Cardiff libraries under threat of closure have been reprieved, we can reveal.

The decision by the city’s ruling Labour group follows a massive public campaign to save library services.

It will be ratified by the authority’s cabinet and is expected to go through the budget setting full council meeting without opposition.
